#87 top-grossing, Weather
Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

Hello Weather uses a stupid map with renaming of Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario. Ended subscription due to their bootlicking.
The dev’s are getting greedier and greedier, and now they’ll blame on either Apple or Source Data providers for “fees increase”. Used to be nice app, not worth anymore because of the greed.
Can’t even use the widget without paying. First thing you see when you open the app is them begging for a subscription
I don’t know how this app works elsewhere, but it is absolutely useless in Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. It’s never once been anything close to accurate. I’ve cancelled my subscription.
Basically gives you the right now weather without any options to do anything else until you buy the subscription
Cool concept but every single feature is hidden behind the subscription. The base app without subscription uses apple weather, yet has about 5% of the data that apple wether provides. Requires pro to even see wind speed. Makes zero sense.
No accurate
It’s a good app. However, sometimes it shows that it is raining when it is not, and no other weather service shows this. Such a pretty little stupid app.
Can’t get past first screen “free trial”
The Daily Medium widget has way too much white space. Why not show days horizontal?! Boggles my mind showing vertical days on a wide widget. Also, allow swiping left/right to multiple favorite locations in big app.
Ridiculous and scammy
It used to be great but the recent update took away so many of the features that drove me to pay for it in the first place. I saw a reply to another review from the dev that said to switch back to Classic mode, but it’s missing so much of the helpful data it used to have. Guess I’ll be switching to another app.
No longer have widgets or apple watch widgets unless you pay
I don’t know why I can’t just put a zip code in and get the weather for that location rather than having to allow my location to be varified every time I look at the app. That option should be available.
I wish the free version at least let you choose a single source of weather info instead of locking to Apple Weather. I’ll stick with Weather Underground instead for my hyper-local conditions! To the delete heap you go.
Highs and Lows for the day don’t match up with hourly temp forecast. It’s like the forecast is for 2 different areas. That makes the app useless to me.
I purchased this app because of the privacy policy and the option to choose the forecast sources. I give it two stars for that reason. But the latest update really ruined a simple interface. Everything is a popup window. What makes developers think people want popup windows? I don’t want to open a popup from another popup to see the forecast charts and then have to close two popups to get back to the home screen. The swipe motion was simple and efficient. I could see all the needed data on the home screen and swipe for details. Changing to the “classic” interface did not return the app to its previous format, so that is a poor recommendation also. I have canceled my subscription because I now hate using this app.
Interested in wind direction on one page it says west on another northwest in reality is northeast it’s not even close
Font is so large everything wraps and it’s unreadable. Happened after a recent update. 🥹
Sorely miss old design ... will not be resubscribing and honestly would like a refund! The old version wasn't broke... not sure why the terrible new design :(
When I first got Hello Weather I was looking for a pay-once app (like in the old times) and it delivered exactly that. Then they added the subscription, making the basic app worst to have something to sell as the pro version. A bit over a week ago I noticed that the widget stopped working altogether and demanded payment for the pro version, and when I opened the app it never finished loading. I reinstalled the app to fix that but sadly the app I loved is gone. The redesign looks good, and developers have to eat… I get it, but you disappointed at least one of your user, greatly.
Why take away basic things like widget to premium??? Weather data isnt even accurate. Good luck
Why would I pay more than I already have for a UI update? That’s what y’all are supposed to do. And it’s less accurate than apple weather. On top of that raising prices while trump is literally making tracking storms harder is diabolical like legit evil company stuff. Trump has removed satellites and employees that keep us safe. This app has no worth.
The display on the watch face will not display accurately. Tapping the display will display more, and correct info, but the data on the face remains the same.
I’m never going to pay a subscription for a weather app, because money doesn’t grow on trees. I’d pay a fair lifetime price, but that’s not on offer. And then, if the app is nerfed, with widgets removed after years? It’s an easy uninstall. There are delusions here about the value of Hello Weather. What a shame. I guess I’ll use the free one that Apple makes.
What would it take to build a viable competitor, what would it cost to run every month, and a prompt to get started. Generated from the reviews on file; one LLM call per brief. Set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for a real brief; the stub only fills in a template.
