Brilliant: Learn Math & Coding

This app used to be phenomenal and actually taught me in a way I could understand. Then, they added the terrible AI features that no one asked for. They are incredibly aggravating and don’t explain anything, just make you do it again until it decides you understand. Do better.

Great product but I believe it’s just overpriced.

Almost impossible to cancel for an app I never use

Using this for homeschool and it is constantly crashing. Its incredibly frustrating for both me and my child.

Don’t sign up for this. They will charge you the full year. After the trial period and refuse to refund the money. I lost 250$ to Brilliant. I exchanged multiple emails with them. Where they repeatedly made it clear that scamming people out of 250$ is more important to them than doing the right thing.

How is this legal? And the webpage the app sends users to to cancel redirects back to the app or shows an error after logging in. What a scam.

Customer service can be described as a soulless AI agent. Incredibly difficult to unsubscribe. Feels incredibly dishonest. Be aware of the free trial, they will fight you if you are a day late to unsubscribe. Reported to Apple.

Tries I may even after trying to contact Support most of the Reviews I feel are fake. This does not teach you anything. It is merely a game type review of Concepts that a person with a college level degree would know. I wasted $125.

PLEASE, DON’T PAY FOR THIS SERVICE!!!!These guys are a punch of scammers, please don’t subscribe once they get paid, they stop answering any questions or approving any refund. I subscribed to their annual plan by accident and I got charged over a $200! And they haven’t even respond to any of my emails. Anyone who doesn’t believe me can go online and check their reviews on Reddit, they are horrible!!! PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY

tl;dr, this needs a $10/mo paid tier. I’m sure this app is brilliant - if you pay $30/mo. The free experience gets you one “warm up” (recycled review content) and one new lesson (5-10min) per day. Every day, you get to watch one unskippable video ad for Premium (because you obviously forgot about it in the last 24hrs), 3 FOMO notifications, and a nag screen that again makes you confirm that you choose to suck instead of paying a couple hundred bucks a year. The mood while learning is warm and cozy, but claiming that they give you 2 keys each day, nagging you to not break your streak, and then forcing you to burn half of your daily “learning” allowance on content you just did yesterday… feels insulting and disingenuous. I happily pay $10-15 per app every month for several apps that respect my wallet and intelligence. I’ve got a week or two streak going here, but every time I leave this app feeling mildly insulted - not inspired or “wanting more”. Free is almost useless, and $30/mo feels way out of line for the level of content I’m seeing as a free user. I mean, $30/mo will get you access to multiple massive libraries of streaming educational content and masterclass style courses… this app is very nicely designed, but the value prop feels waaaaaay off.

Another baiting free trial app that will take your money and refuse you a refund. If the only money you’re making is because people forget to cancel the free trial, then your app needs to be better.

I love this app, but it randomly goes blank during certain exercises, and then kids have to restart or delete and redownload the app, which makes it very difficult for us.

The app is good but come on, 30 clams a month? That's a dollar a day, and I ain't paying for that. Premium basically has all the app's features anyway.

The idea sounds great but the free version doesn’t even showcase what may or may not be worth almost $200 to begin the premium subscription

The old brilliant design felt more refined and polished representing all the things you could learn not only surface level but in depth as well. The ai tutor and dumbed down courses feels more like a chore than actual intuitive learning.

I’m an educated father, looking to brush up on concepts to assist my kids as they progress through school. These interface and interactions are clunky, explanations are head scratching bad, and all this when better free alternatives exist. My review might be colored by the fact my trial subscription auto-renewed for a year when I thought I had cancelled it, but I recognize that’s a me problem.

Just because I downloaded the app once to try it, does not mean I signed up to receive daily emails in my inbox. Especially since I deleted the app within a day. Very irritating.

263 dollars a year for premium, there are similar learning platforms like Duolingo or Mino which cost a fraction of that. Worse yet, the topics taught can be learned for free from videos or books. I wouldn’t have left a negative review if the adds for premium weren’t shoved in my face after each lesson. Be better.

If I've chosen to be on the free plan let me be

It really has good information but it’s very expensive considering how many bugs it has. It’s almost like a beta test sometimes. And after just a few lessons, it starts freezing up because it overheats my phone. I’ve never seen any other app do that.

Cannot give a real review due to not giving me the ability to create an account. I’ve tried Facebook, Google and Apple login. None work. Not my internet, or phone. Other apps and websites work.

Get rid of the llm “tutor” and we can talk.

This company did not send me an email letting me know my account was going to be renewed in advance. I received an email the day after I was charged saying my subscription was renewed. I contacted them that same day a day after the subscription was renewed and I was told they don’t offer refunds.
