HeyRua - Irish Learning App

You get the first lesson for free, but the AI doesn’t sound like what it’s supposed to and I’ve tried most of the dialects and my first lesson. I mean two words that you have to say 10 times.

I mean if you enjoy the British occupying our land, then you should really LOVE this app - we thought it wasn’t possible to find a way to extract the Irish people of their money in lieu of culture but we’ve done it again! Download it while it’s hot

Disappointed

Really love this app to begin with and was all in to pay for it to continue learning. Then all of a sudden their errors in the app that won’t let you move forward through the lessons.. Additionally, there is no way to get help! Extremely frustrating. Until they get their act together and have a means to report issues with the app I would either buy nor use.

I desperately want to learn Irish but this app does nothing to teach you about how the language works. It has you parroting back words & sounds without any structure. What are the phonetics? How does the grammar work?

Loved the concept. Sadly there was no way to skip a too-personal nee profile question — and got a “route not found” error when attempting to find a web page and also when clicking App Support here.

Not really picking up the words I speak and when intentionally pronounce it wrong or badly it says it’s correct 🤷🏼‍♂️

Unfortunately you can’t do more than one lesson before hitting a paywall. The premium subscription is a bit high for a single language app. Was really hopeful to start learning more about grammar and pronunciation but will have to look for a more affordable option.

I was very excited to learn Gaeilge since it’s my family’s language, but I can barely learn on here. Almost everything is behind a paywall, and the things that aren’t would make you skip ahead. A monthly subscription is expensive for a language learning app, and one that is not worth purchasing. I had pretty moderate expectations for this, and I wish they could’ve been met.

I was under the impression that I would be able to access at least some features for free, but I was only allowed to do one lesson before getting blocked from continuing. I can’t currently afford to pay for a subscription and I don’t think it’s fair that I can’t at least have some limited access to the content without paying a $12.99/month subscription fee. It should be addressed up front that nothing in the app is free. I just wanted to learn…

The transcription in Lesson 2 didn’t work at all no matter how many ways I tried it. The audio of the native speakers cut out slightly before the last sound, a bit like Duolingo does on word-matching. Great idea for an app but unfortunately it’s not ready for prime time.
