Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

DO NOT PURCHASE

★ · v1.7.2 · Oct 11, 2026

I downloaded this app based on reviews and seeing it in action on YouTube. I tried it in the field and it is absolutely worthless. Anything and everything that might have slight shade of red, orange, brown,… is detected as blood. Zero value in the fall when every is turning. Literally the entire screen is detected as blood. The old fashion way was the only way I found my deer.

Don’t waste your money!

★ · v1.7.2 · Oct 7, 2026

If you hunt anywhere there is naturally occurring red color in the woods this app is useless. Unless you are trying to find every red leaf or berry on your property.

Don’t waste your money

★ · v1.7.2 · Oct 5, 2026

I was curious if this would work, tried it during the day as well as night and while it picks blood up, it’s not consistent enough to follow a trail when it gets spotty.

Worthless blood tracking

★ · v1.7.2 · Sep 26, 2026

I downloaded this to try and track an animal. Every red thing under the sun came up as “blood detected”. I would never buy this again and wish I could have my money back. I wish I could put a photo in the review to show how bad it is.

Don’t waste your money

★ · v1.7.2 · Sep 23, 2026

Paid $40 for his app to track a deer with a light blood trail the only blood it could find was blood that I could see plain with my own eyes definitely wasn’t helpful

App picks up red leafs

★ · v1.7.1 · Sep 14, 2026

Picks up anything red cans leafs anything red you name it

It’s no good

★ · v1.7.1 · Sep 8, 2026

Just a waste of my money

Scam

★ · v1.3.4 · Jan 21, 2026

Does not give option to track, just videos talking

Not very Helpful

★ · v1.3.4 · Jan 20, 2026

This doesn’t pick up anything that isn’t already visible I didn’t find it very helpful and they do not offer refunds

Not effective

★ · v1.3.4 · Jan 5, 2026

It lights up constantly, all around, where there is no blood. I held it over known blood drops quite a few times and it did not pick them up. For me, it was a waste of time and money for desert hunting. Maybe the five star reviews are in other terrains, but it didn’t work for me.

Waste of money

★ · v1.3.4 · Jan 3, 2026

Doesn’t work as advertised. Picks up anything red so with red leaves everywhere, it shows “blood” everywhere. Wasted $29 dollars for nothing.

Didn’t work

★ · v1.3.4 · Dec 31, 2025

The blood tracker did not work as advertised. Lots of blood on leaves, and barely picked it up. It was easier to follow the trail with a flashlight. The app kept picking up on slightly red coloring on the brown leaves in the area. Then, the “mark spot” didn’t mark anywhere near my location on the map. I’m am currently trying to get a refund on my purchase, but it is proving difficult to get a refund or even to send an email to whomever I need to for a refund. Do not buy.

Waste

★ · v1.3.4 · Nov 24, 2025

Don’t waste your money

Wish I didn’t pay for this

★ · v1.3.4 · Nov 20, 2025

The only reason I downloaded this was for the blood viewer portion of the app, all of the other features I have in another app. The blood viewer gives false positives on pretty much everything. It is not functional for any purpose of actual use in tracking.

Doesn’t work

★ · v1.3.4 · Nov 19, 2025

Shot a deer blood was sparse but you could follow it wanted to make it easier so used the app……this app is TRASH I want a refund it would pick up blood unless you were inches from it but it would call red leaves blood or even my orange hunting vest blood give me a refund

Ok, but tracking is junk

★★ · v1.3.4 · Nov 16, 2025

The blood tracking just highlights anything it sees that is red. This is useless in most wood situations in the fall, when most areas will have the ground covered with fallen leaves that are yellow, brown and red. Anywhere you point the tracker, it highlights dozens of tiny red dots, none of which are blood, unless by coincidence.

Waste of money

★ · v1.3.1 · Nov 4, 2025

I shot a good buck and purchased this app in an effort to locate my deer. I found more blood than this app did. Total waste of money and the accuracy is a zero it will tell u everything is red except for the actual blood and take you onto a wild goose chase please don’t waste your time or money like I did

App

★ · v1.3.1 · Nov 3, 2025

Terrible app picks up anything close to being red or orange

No good

★ · v1.3.1 · Nov 3, 2025

Dose not work

It works— with a big but

★★ · v1.3.1 · Oct 28, 2025

So it’s picks up blood pretty well. I showed my color blind friend and he said that would be really helpful. Buttttttt then i saw that it also picked up the red on the leaves. And anywhere else. This all makes sense logically. And to someone not color blind- we wouldn’t be off on a wild goose chase. But that could be a pretty big problem if you’re color blind and you just follow along thinking maple leaves are full of blood with no way to confirm for yourself. So the big but- use this but confirm with your own eyes. It’s cool but i don’t need the other features for a subscription. Would have gladly just paid the one time for the part of the app i wanted.

Not impressed

★ · v1.3.1 · Oct 25, 2025

Picks up every red leaf. Waste of money.

So it finds red?

★ · v1.3.1 · Oct 25, 2025

I will update this if it changes, but use #1 was very disappointing. I purchased this app because our property has a number of trees that drop red leafs. It is very difficult to track blood through the woods with all of the bright red. This app does a great job at finding all of those red leafs. So, at this point, the app is telling me where not to look.

Don’t waste money

★ · v1.2.2 · Oct 7, 2025

Very disappointing. I thought this would work but it picks up every little thing that has red or orange in the woods. Forget about using this app during fall (hunting season). Totally pointless. It does track blood but you could lose your trail easy because of everything else it picks up. Bummed and I wish I could get my money back.

Good idea but nope

★ · v1.2 · Sep 24, 2025

Way too many false blood detections (wet leaves, berries, mud), and you’ve gotta be right on top of blood to get a decent reading. The map plotting along your blood trail is very inaccurate with where the blood/pin actually is located and where it shows up on the app’s map. I pinned blood spots that I found (not because of the app) while tracking a deer and the spots I pinned show up on the map over 100 yards away. The map used in the app is also very old and outdated. This app is a good idea and maybe with time and development it’ll become better, but right now I cannot recommend this app.

Not worth it

★ · v1.2 · Sep 20, 2025

App wouldn’t be worth it if it was free. Only way it would help is if you are hunting indoors. If you are hunting/tracking anywhere there are Brown or red leaves it will pick up them. Not to mention if there is any water/dew on anything

The opportunity

written Oct 16, 2026

A viable competitor wins or loses on one thing: a blood detector that rejects fall foliage and orange gear, finds sparse and dried blood from standing height, and drops pins where the hunter actually is. Everything else (offline topo/satellite maps, parcels, public land, waypoints) is commodity table stakes against onX Hunt and HuntStand. The opening is real because the incumbent's paid hook demonstrably fails in its most important use case (fall woods, low light, older or colorblind eyes) and it has no refund or support path. However, it is unproven that a phone RGB camera plus ML can do much better, so the detector should be prototyped and field-validated before investing in the full map stack.

Table stakes

  • Topo, satellite and hybrid maps with offline download areas
  • Nationwide parcel boundaries with landowner names
  • Public land, hunting unit and boundary layers
  • Live GPS position, tracks and breadcrumb trails that work without cell signal
  • Waypoints and markers with custom hunting icons (stand, blind, scrape, rub, blood, recovery)
  • Camera-based blood detection usable at standing height, not just inches away
  • Accurate pin dropping tied to the user's real GPS fix
  • Wind, weather and sun/moon times
  • Cloud sync of waypoints and tracks across devices
  • Clear trial, transparent pricing, working refund and support contact
  • Fast cold-start into tracking mode, usable with gloves and in the dark

Where the 10x is

  • Context-aware blood detection instead of a color threshold: an on-device segmentation model trained on texture, droplet shape, specular wetness and color, which explicitly rejects red/orange leaves, berries, stems and blaze-orange gear.
  • Multi-frame temporal consistency, so a detection must persist across frames while the phone moves. This kills the 'whole screen lights up' failure and the useless sensitivity slider.
  • Separate modes for fresh, dried/dark and sparse blood, plus terrain presets (fall hardwoods, desert, snow, grass). Each comes with honest per-mode confidence shown on screen.
  • Low-light and colorblind-first UX: torch-assisted capture, a high-contrast outline overlay instead of red blotches, haptic pings on detection, and an optional pair-with-blood-tracking-flashlight mode.
  • Accurate trail pins taken from the phone's own location with fix averaging and a visible accuracy radius, never projected from the camera view. Auto-builds a breadcrumb blood trail with direction-of-travel prediction and a 'last blood' marker.
  • A real free trial of the full detector, such as 3 full recoveries or 7 days, instead of a 20-foot cap. Pair it with a no-questions-asked first-season refund path and visible human support.
  • Opens straight to 'Start Recovery' in one tap, with no video wall.
  • Publish field-test results (precision/recall on fall-foliage footage) and short raw-video proof clips, directly answering the 'worked on YouTube, not in my woods' distrust.
  • Offline-first everything: detector, maps and trail logging all work with zero signal deep in timber.

Ongoing costs

Item Providers $/month Note
Basemap, topo and satellite tiles including offline downloads Mapbox, MapTiler, Esri ArcGIS Location Platform; USGS/USDA NAIP free imagery as a supplement $200–1500 Driven by MAUs and offline tile-pack downloads. Satellite offline caching terms vary by provider, so read the license carefully.
Nationwide parcel boundaries and landowner names Regrid, ReportAll USA, LightBox $500–3000 Usually sold as an annual license with refresh cadence and redistribution rights. Highly uncertain, so get quotes before committing.
Public land and hunting unit layers USGS PAD-US, BLM/USFS open data, state wildlife agency GIS portals $0–100 The data is free. The cost is engineer time to normalize 50 state GIS feeds plus small processing compute.
Backend, vector tile hosting and CDN AWS S3 + CloudFront, Cloudflare R2, Supabase or Fly.io $50–400 Driven by storage and egress of self-hosted parcel/public-land PMTiles plus user waypoint/track sync.
Weather and wind Apple WeatherKit, Tomorrow.io as fallback $0–50 WeatherKit includes 500k calls/month with the developer membership. You only pay beyond that.
Subscription management RevenueCat $0–150 Free under about $2.5k monthly tracked revenue, then 1%.
CV training, labeling and GPU compute Roboflow or Label Studio, Lambda Labs / RunPod / AWS GPU, Apple Create ML $100–800 Spikes in-season when labeling field footage and retraining. Paid field testers or bounties could add more.
