Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

After you download and spend the time to connect all your cards then you’re hit with the upgrade push for $140 to use any of the features. It’s a bit unclear but seemed like you can’t even navigate through the upgrade offer without paying, so I guess none of the features are available for free. Just take the time to track your own benefit usage with your CC company for that price.
This is a horrible customer experience. They make you link your many cards to the platform, logging into different financial institutions, etc — you trust them to do it this in — then after all that work, hit you with the $100 subscription cost! After being advertised as being a free tool. Deceiving customer marketing
Downloaded the app, was waiting for a good example as to how the “benefits” from the card si have work, none of that showed as it was blocked by a yearly paywall, like not even a chance to see if it’s worth it, just a bat lang promise you’ll get your moneys worth…
The tour suggests that you’ll have access to a bunch of useful features as soon as you register. Nope. The app is useless unless you fork over $100+ per year. Spammy and manipulative.
Why do I not have a free trial and why is the workflow pigeonholing me to subscribe to a yearly there isn’t even a monthly or a weekly pay option. Pay $100 for an app I’m not sure will help me?
You have to spend 20 minutes linking all your cards before you realize it’s a paid service. 142$ per year. I don’t mind paying for a service, but don’t make us wait and jump through all your hoops before telling us.
When I try to click on some of the offers for my cards the kudos app launches an app called Kickoff that is totally unrelated. It was a month ago when it first happened so I thought developers would have fixed it, but nope. And it says I have already saved $736 in two months - not even close. When I click on that amount to see the details it lists small amounts of a few bucks, doesn’t even total $50 in savings. Still looking for the breakdown of this $700 extra I should have by now… When I am on websites the pop up always shows over inflated rewards - if there is a membership credit it shows that full credit every time I shop, which creates huge ‘reward’ amounts but it’s only a 1-2% reward that I actually get.
Also looks like I’ll have to pay for the promised benefits… Short trial not sufficient to know anything
It’s impossible to see the subscription prices in the app before you’re forced to sign up and connect your credit card account. However, once you connect your credit card account there’s no way to enter the app or delete your credit card account without paying the subscription. You’re stuck on the subscription page. So now I’ve given all of my credit card data and transactions data to a company for which I don’t even have an account and I can’t delete the connection or my kudos account. Scam.
During the onboarding process a user steps through a workflow that requests access to financial accounts such as credit cards, banks, 401ks, etc. Once the user provides the information and access it’s only then the user is prompted to pay. Payment options are Yearly or lifetime. I should not as a user have to provide access to financial accounts prior to knowing how much the service will be. It makes me and other users feel scammed. Also, a better option would be to allow for a free trial period. Who will want to pay for a yearly or lifetime subscription without knowing if the app is suitable for their needs or even if the app is worth it. I encountered a few bugs just trying to verify phone and email so, how will the rest of the app behave? Now I’m at a point in the app to where I don’t want to subscribe but can’t go back to the start to disconnect my account I allowed access. I’m stuck on subscription payment UI. This is unsatisfactory and misleading to the users and again, presents as a scam and not a legit app.
Not even a trial
I don’t understand why this app gets such high ratings. It’s constantly losing links to cards and I’m having to reconnect them just about every time I try to use the app. I thought upgrading to premium would help, but it didn’t. This feels like a huge money grab for little-no-benefit for the user. Also, the subscription fee is significantly higher than similar apps — and they charge it annually. For the same price, you can get lifetime access on other apps that have been around much longer. Very disappointing.
Was this app designed by a 5-year old or something? There’s literally no way to get past the premium upgrade screen without paying (no “skip” or “no I don’t want premium” buttons), and that screen only appears *AFTER* I’ve already linked my bank accounts. Probably the worst app design I’ve ever seen - I’m astonished that some like this even made it through QA/QC review. Even restarting the app does nothing to reset my sign-up progress, so now I have to go to plaid and unlink my accounts from this horrible app.
Gives false hope for services that require all your accounts and information only to bait and switch to a pay-to-play scam! “Free” account is nearly impossible to access as the app forces the upgrade screen. Free access is worthless and they will not do anything to lower bills or negotiate without paying first.
Connected my credit cards and bank accounts only to be basically forced into buying premium, which I’m not going to pay for. Now the app has access to my banking information and I HAVE to pay up to $90 just to access my account further. You have been warned.
Required a phone and email validation. Phone worked but email did not. That validation occurred after I entered my information in Plaid, so now those are connected to what?
Disappointing experience. The app has not worked reliably with several of my cards, which significantly limits its usefulness. I also contacted support but was unable to get my concerns resolved. Be aware that purchases appear to be nonrefundable, so I would recommend confirming card compatibility and refund policies before spending money. Such a scam
This app is designed for people to save money and reap the benefits of credit cards. Anything you saw in the ads--you need to pay for it. Are you missing any cashback deals or coupons from your card? Well you need to pay to check that. Every tab in the app requires you to pay to even try and use that feature. Somehow there's 5 main tabs and each main tab has like 5 sub tabs. Each of those sub tabs asking you for money. I've had less homeless people ask me for money in my lifetime than this app. I don't want to spend money to "save money". If I need to spend near $200 for the use of an app that does not do anything new for me--just convenience of saving 10 seconds on a Google search, then I should probably reconsider my life choices. I'd recommend just googling your cars benefits and marking stuff in your Apple or Google calendar for ZERO DOLLARS! If this company cared about your money, then they wouldn't charge you a dime to use any of their services. This really sounds like management did a big oopsie and didn't make partnership deals with brands to sponsor their own business. Maybe hire a better team.
You can easily get all the benefits this app offers for free with a little bit of effort and organization skills.
You need to pay for 90% of the app features. Not worth it unless you get the premium version.
My experience was they take all your information and then say you have to pay them. They did not show me how to delete my information after they bait and switched me.
Unable to create a free account, in spite advertising you can.
This app is subscription only and they only tell you that after going through pages and pages authentication to link your credit card and hand them over your financial data. I wish that Apple would disallow such practices because it was just, quite frankly, a waste of my morning.
The app just want access to your data and doesn’t allow you to check anything without it. The premium version is insanely pricey for an app build on LLM. Terrible product. Just read your benefits and avoid this app.
What would it take to build a viable competitor, what would it cost to run every month, and a prompt to get started. Generated from the reviews on file; one LLM call per brief. Set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for a real brief; the stub only fills in a template.
