Warhammer 40,000: The App

When a new book comes out they lock the account even if you already have purchased the old book. That’s a subscription, avoid greedy companies.

Making 40K rules digital had so much potential and at the start of 10th having everything available and easy to use was great. Then they locked most of the rules and features behind not one but 2 pay walls is just disgusting. The app has constant glitches, gets information wrong, doesn’t have a change log for things, again multiple pay walls, doesn’t have basic features that other list builders have like favorite units and is only now getting things like legends data sheets added to some army rosters. This garbage doesn’t deserve your money and just use the much much better free apps like New recruit.

App is trash. For the amount we have to spend on codex to use this plus the subscription you think they would be able to get basic war gear correct. There are better out there with less bugs from smaller teams not sure why GW cannot get it right.

Kind of a joke to have a working app, pay for everything underneath 10ed, and have it all worthless on 11th. Planned obsolescence at its finest.

Everything about this app is bad. Even if you have spent the money to make it work it doesnt work.

With the changes coming to the app and GW overall I cannot recommend this app. YOU MUST BUY CODEXS AND ITEMS OUTSIDE THE APP TO USE THIS. Subscription does nothing for the average player. Seek other apps and websites to play 40K. App is janky mess that paywalls all of the content. You can no longer view data sheets without buying them. Do not support this app.

They've started rushing out updates without compatibility testing so now the list building tool instantly crashes the app.

Always buggy. Greedy company. Makes you pay for basic information for the game then can’t even run an app properly.

senseless paywalls that only gatekeeps new players

Since the release of 11th edition codex space marines on the app the army forger crashes and is unusable. This makes playing games while using the app impossible. Additionally, since a fraction of the player base has the codex in hand in order to use new codex. Space marine armies are unplayable using the app.

The official app of GW works good if you can afford the subscription but it isn’t efficient like some other apps and feels disorganized. It’s tedious when editing the army and would be better if they had a tab for Strats on the same page as the army list that you’ve built instead of scrolling all the way down to the bottom.

Worked fine until this hotly-awaited update. App crashes the instant I try to open the list builder. Beware!

This has got to be the single greediest app in the entire store. First of all you can only store 1 army list at a time with the free version. Second you get no rules for your units unless you buy Games Workshop’s physical codex and use a code from the back of it. These books currently cost $60 US and it’s a hardback book for the 10th edition to be able to even see rules for the current version of the game. Then, if your 11th Edition codex comes out, you have to shell out more money to see the rules again. That code in the back of the codex better have come from a sealed copy, or it may not work! So physical book required, one time use code, THEN you can finally see your rules. But if you don’t pay half a Netflix sub you are stuck at 1 army list stored. This is the most abusive product I have even seen on the App Store. The sheer corporate greed on display here is staggering. The only reason I have this on my phone is to see the base sizes I have to change to because I own an old army. Well, good news! I can delete it now! Games Workshop’s just removed most of my models from the game, so I can go find some other game now!!!

This app is garbage. It’s a total cash grab from the company. They fail to update it in a timely manner. They’ve abandoned codexes you’re just paying for a code to access the army rules. This whole company should go out of business for their anti consumer practices.

Price increase is absolutely unacceptable considering you still have to purchase physical codexes

“Oh but they need you to pay for the books too”. No. They really don’t. Over the span of a few years I’ll have paid for every book they have. It’s why they’re quickly becoming known as a greedy company and why you should use Free Recruit or Battlescribe. It’s way better, their army building is better, and they don’t nickel and dime you for everything. Eat a giant D, GW.

Don’t support a company that preys on its players.

It’s really a shame that GW keeps trying to make this bloated and ungainly mess work. So many other creators have made it work so much better, but GW instead sues them over the rules content instead of making a way to port over the legit rules to a third party app.

Ai generally can do a better job a making an app than these guys. SEP2026 update. Haha when unsubscribing they auto delete every list and previous battle you have played…. Good job. Been playing since 6th, I have what ever 12 x 2000+ pts per army. So a lot. Might be time to paint and flip these guys. In time these guys will have such a bad quarter their stock holder will fire all the higher ups. Then we might get back to reality. The current plan it think is crash the IP and sell it. Might be wrong…

App crashes constantly and the UI is a convoluted mess. Not to mention you have to pay to build more than one army on top of paying for a physical codex just to use the code and throw the book away because it’s already out of date. As if we don’t spend enough money on GW’s models, now we have to fork over more money for an app that barely holds a candle to other list builders made by a single developer. You want a good app, maybe hire some of these 3rd party app developers you keep snuffing out to help you make a decent app.

I’ve been trying to log in for the past 2 days and it keeps saying there’s an unexpected error every single time I try to log in or register the account and then in the customer service it legit dosent even say anything about the issue

Huh, looks like GW served a C&D order to WarOrgan because one guy made an app 10 times better than the official GW app. Instead of changing for the better GW just nuked them and said “I’m greedy, give me more money for this slop”
