Truecaller: Premium Caller ID

Advertised as free but then they take all your info and make you turn on all their settings and then block you from using any part of the app unless you subscribe. 🙄

This app is useless. I tried searching many different phone numbers, and it never showed a name for any of them. A complete waste of time.

i downloaded and deleted several times yet i can’t receive any otp number to get in the app. i tried to resend the otp again and again yet no number.

I’ve used Truecaller for 10 years, and this change is incredibly disappointing. Features I relied on for years are now locked behind a $74.99/year Premium subscription. I already had the app installed and all caller identification settings enabled, but I was still being pushed into a paywall just to continue using functionality I previously had access to. That is not an improvement; it’s a downgrade for longtime users. After a decade of using Truecaller, I deleted the app entirely, which says a lot about how poorly this change has been handled.

I bought this app because it had a family plan. This is where the problems started. I invite the members of family and then they are prompted to pay again with no option to join the plan. I wrote support they don’t respond back. Scam company scam app The plot thickens (9/29/2026) - I contacted support and continuously got an AI bot response. I created two tickets for a refund and non-renewal request. No response at all. Buyer beware. I will likely need to cancel my credit card. I will update this review with more information good or bad as it becomes available. 9/30/2026 - well, I’m out $100 but it appears I may have successfully cancelled the subscription. Sign up for this service at your own risk.

It’s understandable that businesses have to make money. But in this case this it’s just disservice 1. The app does not work on my iPhone after iOS27. I reached out to support and they say I need to reinstall. Which I have done 20 times. I shared a screenshot which the support has no idea how to handle. I guess intelligent support is now only for paid customers. 2. If you are not a premium customer (like on my android), you are subjected to an ad for everything. The app takes the whole page when a call comes in instead of having any form of minimal notification and then displays a massive banner of ad of its in. Not sure if u are in the business of filtering spam, should you be entitled to push your own spam of ads!!

Did not block a single call. Every single ridiculous tax scam or loan scam call came through. Took the time to set up and even put the settings at their most extreme.

The app withholds the subscription fee until after you've consented to share your data and identity. Had it disclosed the cost upfront, it would appear far less malicious. They likely engineer this sequence merely to harvest your contacts list to improve their directory. By revealing the paywall only after the app has access to your data, they seem to capture data even from people who ultimately do not use the service. It strikes me as offensive and thuggish.

hey, having a payed subscription is fine and all that, but maybe try telling me BEFORE i put all my information in

It said the app was free and I would be able to use it for FREE. Right after I created my account it was trying to force me to buy a yearly plan or it gave me the option to deactivate my account

Here is the story. Download first, install, give access to your phone, agree to terms, give name and phone number, verify number - your account temporarily blocked, verify your account, pay $79 for yearly subscription. Basically they take your info and want the payment for the tool that you don’t even know is working

This app used to be free to use. Now $79.99/year? WTH!?!

i initially discovered truecaller on my web browser and it directed me to download the app saying “try truecaller for free” but when i downloaded the app, i was forced to either pay a subscription or deactivate my account. don’t waste your time.

Oh well.

Say free however it’s not

Blocked two prefixes and still received calls and voicemails afterwards. The app has one job only which it fails at it

Not working properly and still get BOT calls and spam calls and no use of activating premium

Don’t waste your time downloading

The app immediately charges with no trial capability and I figured out why. It absolutely does not work and blocks no spam calls whatsoever. I guess they make their money on churn and the inability to get a refund.

So the app looks great and installation is pretty straightforward but makes you modify settings and complete the install BEFORE TELLING YOU THERE IS A $79 charge.
