Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

What happens when clueless people make clueless decisions
Terrible update on the watchlist, I can see less data and not even all of it is visible on my phone, doesn’t tell me how much my investment went up or down, only gives the stock information, and it’s also cut off on my phone.
I very much dislike this new format. I can no longer see the details of my watchlist the way I used to. You should put it back the way it was, similar to the website watchlist where I can see my average purchase price and other details. I have to use another app to see this information now.
With the new updates, the app can’t handle large watchlists and crashes/fails to load regularly. You now have to click into each stock to see the aftermarket changes, the removal of the swipe between watchlists is disappointing, the options moved into the singular dropdown menu takes more clicks to sort/change order, and the large blocks prevent you from seeing more than a couple stocks at a time. Overall a pretty big step back in functionality and clarity for me.
Lates update has caused me to delete the app.
The latest app update made the stock watchlist unusable for me. Now you have to click a lot to see what the previous version showed you in one quick, clean interface.
Latest update removed the pre-market and after hours movement from the daily charts. Need to get this information from the website.
This latest update IS THIS WORST. The user interface has been perfect for getting easy updates on market performance for almost 2 decades. The app forces me to update and I don’t even know what I’m looking at. Trying to find market performance data is a nightmare of endless scrolling. How do I see the 10-year Treasury? Why would you bury that information somewhere else on the site? This app update is the worst thing that’s ever happened to MarketWatch. I’ll probably just delete the app since it’s worthless now.
If I wanted your desktop interface, I would log onto my computer daily. But I don’t. I pay a monthly subscription fee primarily because of the ease of use of the app…..at least that was the case until you ruined the app by making it just like your desktop version. And for what? So you can put advertising on the app too? Why am I payment an actual monthly subscription fee when clearly I am now the product you are selling to your advertisers. If I’m not able to restore my app to the previous interface, I will start looking for another app to replace this one, and I’ll go ahead and cancel my Barron’s subscription too while I’m at it.
Title says it all. Time to get a new app for watching stocks since they obviously don’t want you using this app for that
Your update made this app useless to me. Where is the pre-market data? I want to see everything in one window. Please don’t truncate our watchlist numbers. I don’t want to scroll across to see the various Asian or European Markets. Please revert back to what we all deemed useful.
Run away! The only good thing is the text size is now dynamic to the device settings. Otherwise, this update makes you click through more to see the information you want. Information that was easily displayed in one place before is no longer. There are no customization settings (that I can find). This means you can’t adjust the text size within the app. Sigh. Do they even consult with users? Deleted the app. Too annoying to continue using. The free Apple Stocks app is a thousand times better.
Unusable, had to delete after a decade.
It’s now harder to find the data that was 1 click away and some of the information that I considered important like total stock breadth and total international market index appears to be gone completely. I am switching to Yahoo Finance!
The new update ruined this app for me. I can no longer see all the info I want to see on the main Watchlist page. The only metric that is actually visible is share price. The share price graph takes up way too much space. To see daily change and total value of an investment I have to click on each individual stock. This update motivated me to find a new portfolio app, so I guess that is a good thing.
They just took away premarket on my watchlist. So bad.
Was this actually put in front of folks or did someone just want to throw something out there
You ruined what was a straightforward, simple app. Not everything needs to be black and “stylish.” Truly terrible job.
Newest update glitches back to man screen at the smallest gesture or for no reason at all. Why change everything just to make it worse.
I am a financial professional in the business for 10 years. MarketWatch is my go to app to review markets in the aggregate at a glance when I am on the go and not in front of my computer. The recent update has made the main reason I use this app completely useless. Within my watchlist, I used to be able to measure market movement by % across indexes and individual positions. Now the text has been enlarged so much that it cuts off movement as a %. So the only way to see % change movement is too open every position individually. Furthermore, the app used to display before and after market trading shifts. While not important most of the time, that feature was useful for seeing general sentiment during quarterly earnings reports which typically occur after market hours. I will be deleting this app and just default to utilizing Apple stocks for the time being. All things held equal, at least Apple does not cut off market movement data because of bad formatting
Great job screwing up your app. Now I'll have to find a new one.
Wow, and here I thought market watch would be spared the widget death of Barron, but looks like I was mistaken. Legitimately the most useful feature of each app is now gone. So too will it be from my phone. Shame.
I cannot even fathom the stupidity of getting rid of the one feature that actually makes the app useful, but that’s what they like to do. Welcome to modern day stupidity. This fits perfectly.
Up until recently (September 2026) the best feature of this app was the PreMarket view in “My Watchlists.” Prior to the update, you could see the current premarket price of every stock in the list at a glance. Now after the update, you have to click on every individual stock to see that information rendering this app no better that Apple’s native stock app. Since I am starting to run out of space on my iPhone 16 Pro, there is really no reason to keep this app on my device. Lists deleted. Account deleted. App deleted.
Can't even see the price of a stock symbol in the app anymore. All numbers truncated to just the first one or two digits.
What would it take to build a viable competitor, what would it cost to run every month, and a prompt to get started. Generated from the reviews on file; one LLM call per brief. Set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for a real brief; the stub only fills in a template.
