Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

Strava group is worthless

★★ · v8.57.0 · Oct 13, 2026

The Strava group is basically worthless. There is no way to see or communicate with other runners in the group so it basically is just a home for the podcast episodes.

Vibe coded POS

★★ · v8.57.0 · Oct 9, 2026

This is like Strava with less features. They’re really trying hard to be a personal coach but it’s missing too much. Why am I spending another $20/mo for a less capable Strava that I already pay for?

Waste of money

★ · v8.57.0 · Oct 6, 2026

Your app’s feedback on my running sounded like canned responses and were never relevant to me. Your “post-injury” return to running plan is subpar versus ChatGPT. I wanted a refund from my annual subscription but couldn’t get it through the Apple store. ChatGPT easily replaces Runna as it’s more personable and weighs an athlete’s biofeedback—your app is a hodgepodge of do-it-yourself running plans. Terrible.

Horrible AI Bloated App

Terrible

Deleting Runs Mid Run

★ · v8.57.0 · Oct 5, 2026

This app that I PAID TO TRACK MY RUNS will delete and stop mid run. I have no watch so it’s NOT A WATCH ISSUE. TOTAL SCAM

Let me cancel the plan

★ · v8.57.0 · Oct 2, 2026

They make it real easy to subscribe and pay, but want to cancel? Good luck.

The PMs and Engineers should be fired.

★ · v8.56.0 · Sep 28, 2026

Runna has been a great app thus far, but it’s incredibly buggy, the product team should be ashamed. Here are just a few issues: 1) Runna workouts don’t properly sync exercise minutes to Apple Fitness, unless you start the workout directly from the workout app. Countless threads on reddit about this, but no fix. 2) You can’t add a route to an upcoming run unless you’re on the current week. i’m trying to plan for next week and can’t add routes i’ve created. 3) You can’t view the route map you’ve added, you have to be actively within a work out to see it. I need to be able to navigate to my starting point! 4) The route map doesn’t show up on the apple watch if you start the run from the iphone app. 5) the workout insights are absolutely useless, and you are forced to rate the workout to see them. So much friction in the user experience. I’m training for my first half and using Runna due to the Strava brand, but the app is pretty bad. So close to just going old school and following a plan out of a book, since the app creates more friction in my workflow rather than being smooth.

Too hard to cancel trial

★ · v8.56.0 · Sep 26, 2026

One star for making it way too hard to unsubscribe within the trial. Also, the voice that the app uses to talk to you sounds atrociously terrible.

Just use Claude next time

★ · v8.56.0 · Sep 25, 2026

Annoyingly difficult to modify training plans and also very glitchy. Just going to ask an agent to create a running plan for me next time instead of paying for this slop

Unusable if new to running

★ · v8.56.0 · Sep 23, 2026

There’s no way to actually adjust the difficulty of a run. Even if you cant do a run, it wont make the next run any easier, just a slightly smaller escalation. Adjusting the length of the plan or adjusting the number of runs per week makes no meaningful difference. So frustrating and just makes you feel like a failure because you arent set up to succeed.

Unusable corporate greed

★ · v8.55.0 · Sep 21, 2026

Good for the two week trial but after that it is unusable in its free state. I used Runna when it first came out and it was amazing. I went from barely being able to run a mile to running 8. I stopped running for a while and now that I want to get back into it I cant even rearrange workouts or click to see an overview of the workouts. This is certainly because of the Strava acquisition. Im so disappointed that this app has become so money hungry that it doesn’t support some basic usage. The price is too high to justify paying into for an AI generated workout plan. Corporate greed at its finest.

Bug that has appeared

★ · v8.55.0 · Sep 17, 2026

Hello, please fix the bug that has recently appeared. This app works well for the most part but between plans I added some light runs. When I delete or move one of them now they delete all free runs I made. I have to close the app to have the other runs appear. This is all synced to my calendar and has made a mess of things.

It’s good but you need to pay for everything

★★ · v8.55.0 · Sep 16, 2026

And anything

Trying to cancel free subscription

★ · v8.55.0 · Sep 15, 2026

I’ve been trying to cancel my free subscription and run a makes it damn near impossible to do. They give you instructions on how to do so but when I go to my subscriptions, because I’m in a free trial it does not show up (on IOS). I’ve tried to find something on their website and there is nothing for that either. When I go on the app itself, it redirects me to the runna website which then redirects me to the app. Seems like an infinite loop that will never end, and that I’ll have to pay for an app I do not plan on using.

Very disappointed

★ · v8.54.0 · Sep 15, 2026

I used runna to improve my 5k pacing, I was excited because I’ve heard great things. Not only did I run a slower 5k than my usual/previous 5ks but I also had to stop so many times because the plan made me so unprepared. Very disappointed. I got a small refund but it didn’t make up for the MONTHS I wasted using the plan that literally made me run worse.

I love this app but I’m leaving this app

★ · v8.54.0 · Sep 14, 2026

Runna helped me so much with running and I love this app. However, it used to be free and now you can only do one week free. There are plenty of free running apps that do exactly the same thing so, although I’d love to keep using Runna, I can’t justify paying 20 dollars a month for it when free options exist.

Why is everything a subscription..

★ · v8.54.0 · Sep 14, 2026

I love the idea of this app and the practicality of the training plans. I can see how it’s beneficial to help beginner and experienced runners alike become stronger, healthier, and more confident in their running abilities. Which is why it’s so frustrating that it’s a subscription. Not everyone has the financial capabilities to pay for this app’s subscription, limiting access to a part of the population who wants to better their health but is unable to afford another subscription. Running should be accessible for all, without the training resources behind some paywall. Please consider a more affordable, or even free version.

Overly optimistic and wildly connected to injuries

★ · v8.53.0 · Sep 6, 2026

This app is wildly over optimistic in training and pace. This opinion is coming from not only my experience with multiple full and half marathons, but is also other experience coaches and runners that you can find with simple research online. I highly suggest getting connected to a run club and/or actual coach whose true goal isn’t preying on the unknowing or inexperienced. If I could take my time and money from this app I would. Biggest waste of time and money I’ve ever spent is using this garbage.

Canceled and charged anyway

★ · v8.53.0 · Sep 5, 2026

BEWARE. I canceled this app on the App Store and unsubscribed from emails but I was charged anyway. And I can’t reach anybody to reverse the charges. A reminder email that they were going to charge my card went to spam.

Needs some work

★★ · v8.53.0 · Sep 4, 2026

I love the idea of this app - setting custom paces, warm up, cool down stretches. It gives a great framework to follow, and the plan design seems great. BUT, there’s a lot of issues. My biggest gripe is that the Apple Watch integration doesn’t work. I’ve been on 5 runs using this app and only 1 of them has worked the way it’s supposed to (I have the latest Apple Watch). Most of the time, the app will freeze, pause, not keep track of miles, or sometimes the screen will just be black. Feature request: when your run is logged incorrectly (which it normally will be through the watch), there should be a way to edit the runs (or combining data from multiple runs). Would be a great add. I’m going to continue using it for the plan design, but won’t be using the Apple Watch features, which is a huge bummer.

Don’t use if you wanna use Apple Watch

★ · v8.53.0 · Sep 2, 2026

3/10 times the app will crash on your watch and lose all progress of that run. really ruining your run

Do not download

★ · v8.52.1 · Aug 31, 2026

The app auto renewed and charged me $129 without any warning or way to cancel my subscription. The subscription is not displayed on the Apple subscriptions so there’s no way to cancel it. I will need to report a fraud through my bank. Do not download this app. The information it gives you is all available through AI, and Strava works fine for routes.

Needs work

★★ · v8.50.2 · Aug 24, 2026

The plan is the best thing about the App. It’s buggy will sometimes not record, trigger Spotify and there is a time difference between your phone and the app when using treadmill. It has a lot of potential but honestly Strava is more reliable but doesn’t offer a training plan. The other issue is if you are injured or want to modify a workout your only options are to skip it or record it but you have to either put notes or notes. So if you are on a training plan it just adds pressure to complete rather than complete within your means. They need to listen to new runners who could be a large customer base.

Apple Watch Issues

★ · v8.50.0 · Aug 17, 2026

Latest update broke the connection between Runna and the native workout app. I can no longer access the Runna workouts in my apple watch. I’ve deleted/reinstalled and made sure everything is enabled. Seems my friends are experiencing similar issue. I don’t like using the Runna watch app because the views and audio cues are just not right for me.
