Solid Starts: Baby First Foods

It says you can cancel anytime during the free trial but then they make impossible. Charged my card $109 for a year subscription and won’t answer their emails. I emailed them before my card was even charged and got only an AI response that someone would be in touch. That was a week ago now.

The app seems super helpful but everything is behind a subscription wall. It would be nice if there was a bit more access on the free version. Paying $20 a month seems a bit high. Most apps with subscriptions are still able to be used without or are very clear that you need to pay to use. This one doesn’t even allow basic tracking of what your baby has tried.

Requires a $100/yr subscription. This is not disclosed until after you create an account, give them your email, and give them your child’s name and age. Apple should pull this app for collecting personal info before disclosing that payment is required.

Found this really frustrating- everything i needed to know was extra and would only be unlocked with a subscription. Could’ve been a 5 star app if literally anything other than the CPR videos and generic food information was available. This app is fine if you’re looking to add another subscription to your life but i was very disappointed.

I guess was hoping the app would help make it easy to feed my family and my baby and make less work overall for me. It’s not like that. You can’t really plug in the dish you want to make and get a baby family version with chocking and nnutirion advice for baby. It’s good for about the 6-9 mth hump tells you how to cut stuff. But don’t expect it will provide much benefit after. Its really gonna come down to your creativity. You not gonna have what the app calls for on hand so it’s an extra step to make dinner off their recipes not accessible food. Culturally your family may not respond to the recipes. Lots of room for improvement. Maybe just pay a couple mths when starting off definitely don’t waste money continuing. It’s literally solid starts not for nutrition after.

Lifetime subscription my behind!!! I paid for this in 2023 for a “lifetime subscription” and now every feature I want to use is paywalled. You guys are greedy and I’ll never use your app again.

Had to this app for awhile mainly using the “how to serve” but recently they’ve added yet ANOTHER paywall which deems this app completely useless. Having to pay for a simple google search is actually crazy. I hope the developers rethink making people pay for safe ways to serve food. Sad i have to part with this app but won’t pay for another subscription for something i can google for free.

There’s really no point in having this app unless if you’re willing to pay for it. You get no access to marking things as favorites or that your little one tried a food, the guides are locked except for a few, and every recipe is locked. I heard this was such a good resource to have and that the paid version isn’t necessary, but turns out, in order to have said resources, you have to pay.

This app would be great if it wasn’t $100. They get you by showing you all the things you can do with it but you can do nothing without paying as if everything for your baby didn’t already cost enough. Just charge up front instead of the sneaky nonsense.

I bought the yearly subscription today and the videos would not load for me. I have tried to troubleshoot the problem by logging out and deleting the app, but the videos still aren’t playing. Nothing happens when I click on them. I have to use the web version to get any of the videos to work.

What was wrong with an app that just offered helpful information for free? The payment isn’t modest either. It was pretty pricey. Not worth it

This app is buggy, to the point where none of the features that they’re charging $20 will even load when I open or refresh the app! The only help you get is an FAQ saying to delete the app and try again lol. Deleting your account won’t work either. You just get redirected to the website, and told to “fill out a form” that doesn’t even exist.

You have to pay for everything.

I’m so confused. I loved this app for my first child and when it was $9.99/year. I understand inflation, but $99.99/year!?!?! Absolutely not. That’s awful for mothers just trying to learn how to best feed their babies.

I never write reviews, but today when again I couldn’t find a basic food in their database I felt forced to write this review! This app charges 100!!! $ a year and doesn’t have a database of many many foods, forcing me to google most of the foods I feed my daughter anyways, so I might as well not have the app altogether. Additionally it does not let you create your own meals for the baby so you can add those easily to the log. I think a huge part of BLW is that babies eat at the family table and get introduced to “adult” foods in a save manner, but good luck finding those in the app… the only reason I give 2 stars over 1 is that their customer service is very nice and helpful

This app SUCKS. I’m constantly having to login, and there’s a login bug where upon login the app just spins. Have to force close and open again to use the app. Also, there’s no way to print a recipe. I mean, who would want to print a recipe when they could get their phone dirty while cooking? Absolutely not worth $100 a year.

I’ve been adding food over a period of months, and one day it logged me out and deleted all the progress. I had already paid for a premium subscription. Very frustrating.

Basic function doesn’t work. I tried to log food but after selecting a date it takes me to another calendar thats broken. Very frustrating.

This app is great when it’s actually functioning, but I am constantly getting signed out, putting the password in directly from Apple’s password manager, and then being told I don’t have an account. Also, when attempting to troubleshoot this issue repeatedly, the only way to back out of the system that tries to force you into making a new account is to completed delete the app and redownload so you can try again with a different combo. Extremely mad that we paid for this app and it has so many issues.

Constantly getting signed out, only to be asked to create new account - so losing all saved foods. I paid for the annual subscription, but keeps asking me to pay to subscribe and locked out of paid features. Help!

I paid the subscription to help me with my baby’s food but it’s just non functioning. Every time I type the ingredients it just completely blanks out and leaves the app. So i pretty much wasted my money. It could be useful for the way to safely serve food for their age but that’s the free option. So i definitely don’t recommend subscribing to it.

Super annoyed I gave my email and everything THEN it decided to tell me I need to either pay 20 a month or $100 for the app. That’s insane and misleading. Deleted the app literally right after I downloaded it, waste of time.

The app is nice looking but food options are not extensive and app is not intuitive. My baby tried a bunch of foods already and there is not an easily found way to mark a bunch as tried, you have to find and go i to each food to mark it off as tried. If there is an option to do this its not easily found.

Used this app three years ago for $2.99 a month. Is now either $100 for a year or $20 a month. Ridiculous.
