Lingvano - Learn Sign Language

I downloaded it to learn sign language, but was met with lessons that moved way to fast and threw to many new words at me. And how to sign them it was moving way to fast for me and, I couldn’t remember much from the lessons.

I have a deaf and hard of hearing program at my school and they like to talk with me but I did not know sign language I got this app and started getting the hang of sign language I love this app now I can easily understand the sign language but the thing is I am in middle school I cannot do the subscription and now I only have one chapter and then part of one because I have to pay to keep using it and that is insane. I made a friend who is hard of hearing and it’s very hard for us to talk so the one thing I want to be changed is please make the app free and just use ads instead because I think a language that is many people’s main way to communicate should be free for others to learn

So far the app itself had been pretty great! Easy format, easy to understand, useful language. But after about 2 hours of lessons it does not allow you to progress unless you subscribe. Not even duolingo is that predatory, at least you can go on each day and try. With Lingvano you reach a certain lesson or process point access is revoked; which is ironic because hearing people being able to easily access ASL lessons directly creates more accessibility for the deaf community, but I digress. It would be an absolutely wonderful tool for the hearing to learn ASL, if it wasn’t behind a predatory paywall. Thank you for doing nothing for the deaf community.

When you do the last lesson of the unit you have to pay for the next unit and lesson

Very good app for learning ASL but could not get past the free trial page and now I cannot continue because it will not let me pass the free trial so I can’t keep going on without doing the free trial.

It’s a great app if you’re able to pay for it. ASL Bloom is another app in the App Store. You do have to pay the same amount to unlock everything… But it gives you two free lessons a day — unlike this one that completely locks you out after you’ve reached a certain point.

You have to pay. There’s no option. I’m deleting it.

For an app that promotes inclusivity, the fact you have to pay a subscription is ridiculous. 1.7 billion people are hard of hearing, and you want everyone to pay to learn how to better communicate? Go suck on a rock dude

This is a lot easier app to learn than the ones I have experienced in the past.

Each lesson takes too long to load. It freezes after literally every lesson and they don’t get marked as complete so I can’t move forward.

It’s a good app but it glitches repeatedly and doesn’t let me finish one single lesson. Also, it has limited functionality if you don’t pay the premium version.

Teaches you like 7 useful words then five that you don’t need right away and after that all locked unless you pay. ASL teaching should be accessible and FREE I don’t care what anyone thinks it’s not helping anyone by charging money for something you want people to learn.

No way to reach anyone to resolve issues.

They don’t let you know they are about to charge you for an entire year and no recourse. I cannot recommend.

Halfway through the second thing you have to pay for it it’s so unfair that you had to pay for it halfway through the second lesson some people can’t afford to pay for it and that’s why they thought it was free. That was me. Don’t buy.

Great app. In fact, it’s the best ASL app I’ve ever used but the price is insane. At its cheapest it’s $120 a year. It should be $120 for life like a textbook.

It’s good for the first chappter and then you have to pay. So you can’t get a good app without paying .

Never even learned how to sign “you money hungry”

I loved the app until I realized I can’t do the lessons to learn more I have to pay and I can not pay that but I am trying to learn sign language when this is the best app there is I can even use it

App is fundamentally solid but the subscription plan is absolutely ludicrous. 20 dollars a month is a complete scam. Do not install.

I loved this app so much for the first couple lessons and I have been using it a lot every single day. Until I would have to pay $20 or more to continue which is a deal breaker for me. I loved this app so much but then I lost my love for it instantly. Great app I loved it but totally don’t recommend if you want to spend $20 every single month!!

i cannot belive they let you finish a lessom then anlittle more then half way through the second chapter they make you pay like excuse me there are people in the world that alot of people dont understand and now you want people to to be able to understand?!?!

I really wanted to learn ASL and even joined a club at my school for it. The club only taught finger spelling so I thought I would get an app to actually learn some things. It was going great, the lessons were good, until I got blocked by a paywall. This is so sad. Then, I figured out that almost all the ASL apps on the App Store are incorrect, outdated, or need an overpriced subscription. I guess YouTube will be my teacher now. 🤟💀
