Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

The last updat is messing with the flow of being able to type in the space allowed because you’ve added new features I’m sure can be great not at the expense of trying to push it out of the way of me trying to get the job done. You realize it’s a tight space yet you infringed on it. Make it stop! Fixit please.

was easy to make labels but now it's more upsell

★★ · v5.23.0 · Oct 11, 2026

was easy to make labels initially, but now it's more upsell, it limits cloud storage and tries to get you to subscribe to onkine services. would be sure much better if i could save my labels to the storage i already have. also theres a privacy issue, your labels stored in on their servers

Was a 5, now a 2

★★ · v5.23.0 · Oct 8, 2026

When I purchased this device 2 years ago, it was the perfect labeled for my needs; spice rack, tea box, storage containers etc. Nothing fancy, just an easy to read, easy to operate labeling system. Now, for some reason, I must sign up for a free trial before I can print?!?! I don’t want the “Pro” version, but the app is insisting that I try it. Needed to labels, so sign up, print, cancel subscription. WHY must it be so complicated?

Subscription

★ · v5.22.2 · Oct 7, 2026

This app is used to connect to a compact label printer. It used to be free to print. I literally used it in May, and now you have to purchase a subscription. STOP NICKEL AND DIMING US!

Now behind Pay Wall

★ · v5.22.2 · Oct 6, 2026

Bought the printer and app was free . Now $29 per year to print my annual label or two and all support is written in Chinese

Must Pay for a Subscription to Print!

★ · v5.22.2 · Oct 4, 2026

Will no longer allow printing of your labels without a subscription. Totally useless now for those of us who infrequently print labels.

Can’t use that subscription

★ · v5.22.2 · Sep 24, 2026

This is terrible. When I First bought this printer. I didn’t need to have a trial, so why would I need it now! You should buy things back because now I can’t use this so I think your program sucks

Hostage Situation

★ · v5.22.2 · Sep 23, 2026

The app was working fine for my simple needs. Then they started offering a “pro” subscription. Annoying but that is tolerable. As of today, it is unusable because you have to start a Pro subscription trial or you can not print. The only way I can find past the payment screen is to start the trial. Maybe this was a mistake and they’ll correct. I’ll give a little time before taking further action.

Font Capabilities

★★ · v5.22.2 · Sep 19, 2026

Useless at the moment! Font size capabilities not adjustable for character input. Needs a quick fix or it’s garbage

Must subscribe to premium to continuously print

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 17, 2026

It was great at the start but I can no longer print unless I subscribe to their premium service. What a disappointment!

Subscription trash

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 16, 2026

Artificially limiting me to saving 10 profiles that are clearly saved on my phone and not in their stupid cloud is extremely anti-consumer. I bought their hardware, but they wanna continue to extract money from me every year for using it, even though I continue to buy supplies from them too. Absolute trash.

Why a paid subscription?

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 16, 2026

I bought 2 of these little label printers and they were great but now they want more than the cost of the printer as a subscription. It’s going in the trash steer clear.

Subscription needed

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 13, 2026

I paid for the printer & labels, I shouldn’t have to pay monthly for software needed to print

Does not work without a subscription

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 13, 2026

I bought this label maker and it seems to force you to buy a monthly or yearly plan. I will be returning it.

Tons of ads and subscription prompts

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 12, 2026

Every update they remove more features and move it to their paid subscription. I paid for the printer and labels, I don't want a monthly subscription for the most basic features! And so many popup ads you have to click away just to print one label, very annoying.

Won’t Print Unless Buy

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 12, 2026

I will NOT print unless you buy the Pro!!!!!!! Don’t waste your money!! Return it!

Not reliable for business use

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 11, 2026

Randomly just deleted all my templates I use for printing labels for my business

Deleted Hundreds of Templates

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 10, 2026

Deleted hundreds of my templates I use everyday. Made me pay $40 subscription and still have not restored my templates. I may never get them back at this point.

Now it’s $30/year for basic functionality

★ · v5.22.0 · Sep 7, 2026

I loved my D30 printer and the companion app, but now you must pay $30/year just to keep your old labels you designed. Recent they instituted max 10 “templates” (old labels) due to “space limit”. The space to store each template is minimal and there is plenty of space on your phone, so it can only be described as an annual tax for owning this printer. You used to be able to add your own graphics to a label, now you have to pay. Shameful. Do not pay, just delete it and find a better printer

Was great - now greedy developer

★ · v5.21.1 · Aug 27, 2026

Great app and great function. But now I have to pay a hefty monthly fee to store labels on my own device?!?! The new template and print history limitations requiring a costly subscription are absurd. I paid for a device and I am ok paying for things that cost the developer extra, such as a one-time fee for a font pack or a one-time fee for an image pack, or the ability to generate QR codes. I could even pay a subscription for a cloud based service. But lots of money to store things on my own device?! Thats extortion!

Avoid this app

★ · v5.21.1 · Aug 23, 2026

This app has become increasingly restrictive and feels unnecessarily predatory. When I first started using it, only a few features were behind a paywall. Over time, more and more functionality has been moved behind a subscription. The final issue for me was discovering, after months of use, that I could suddenly save only 10 labels without paying. It is unclear why labels need to be restricted in this way, particularly when they should reasonably be able to be stored locally. Even more concerning, the paid subscription reportedly limits users to 100 labels, despite costing $8.99 per month. If users are required to pay a substantial recurring subscription, there should at least be a reasonable explanation for imposing such a restrictive storage limit. I am also very uncomfortable with the app blocking screenshots and screen recordings. For a label-making application, this feels unnecessarily invasive and raises serious privacy concerns. Users should be able to understand why this functionality is necessary and what information the app is accessing before being subjected to such restrictions. Overall, the increasingly aggressive paywalls, restrictive label limits, and screenshot/screen-recording blocking have made this app unacceptable to me. I strongly recommend considering alternatives before committing to this app.

They keep putting more and more features behind a subscription

★ · v5.21.1 · Aug 23, 2026

I really liked this label app for a while, though the fonts are fuzzier than I’d like. I’m now tired of being yelled at by pop-ups that I should subscribe because I am definitely not. Now I can have only three templates? I’m out. I’ll buy a new Dymo.

You have to pay

★★ · v5.21.1 · Aug 23, 2026

Now you have to subscribe before you can use the label

App is OK if it was Free

★ · v5.21.1 · Aug 18, 2026

This app is alright, I have not had any issues with it per se but it’s definitely not anything amazing. Now I’m getting notifications that I must pay for a subscription or lose all the data I have spent months building. Pretty frustrating.

They keep adding previously free features to “pay for premium”

★ · v5.21.1 · Aug 16, 2026

I liked this program, but honestly previously available features keep being hidden behind the “pay for premium to use” wall. Most recent is print history and templates. You now can only have three templates and ten print history records. Tacky as hell, if it keeps happening I will be looking at different software or printers as a whole. Might have to do that already since I use mine a lot for specific templates.

The opportunity

What would it take to build a viable competitor, what would it cost to run every month, and a prompt to get started. Generated from the reviews on file; one LLM call per brief. Set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for a real brief; the stub only fills in a template.
