VicoHome: Smart Home Camera

Used for years and new update cut video unless you pay for a subscription. The quality isn’t worth paying for a subscription. These cameras will go in the garbage and I’ll delete my account and find a better option.

I’ve used for a couple years because they were cheap then I got broke into and they didn’t sound the alarm or notify me. They don’t catch everything . They stop turning after a month. They want you to pay for them even knowing they don’t work . VERY BAD PRODUCT! DONT DOWNLOAD THEY STEAL INFORMATION AND WATCH YOU THROUGH YOUR CAMERAS!!

These cameras were rather pricey when purchased and the video package was free. Now they want $70 per camera/year for videos! Not nice! Can only get a thumbnail and it cannot be zoomed! Cameras now too slow to respond to movement to even get a thumbnail. I feel like I have been ripped off!

Thanks for making a camera I have had for years basically useless with the last update all it does is take a thumbnail unless you pay for a subscription which I will not do I’ll just buy a different camera and you can suck it.

These are now useless security cameras as only get still photos. Bad guys win again or get cameras that show actual video without a subscription. I’m sure I’ll get a refund for these cameras, right?

Received the bird camera as a gift. Set it up on my local network requiring ZERO connection to the cloud or any strain on external servers. Please tell me why then I'm bombarded with ADS every time I open the app? What point does it serve me? Everything is already paid for on my end. There's no additional cost to the company for my usage because it's all on my local network. More app junk if you ask me. Shame on you.

We have used these camera system for a couple of years now. They are easy to install, easy to watch. Until the last couple of updates. Now I can not get the videos to play. Some days the cloud videos don’t even show up. I have tried to use the app on my older iPad and my newer iPhone. Same issues on both. I reached out to the developer several times through the app with no response.

The app updated and now the free plan is basically useless. You can barely use your cameras.

Don’t buy. When I purchased these cameras, the whole point was that I didn’t have to buy a subscription to see short videos of motion from my camera. Then one day it started showing ads. Then it just stopped showing the videos. Now I have to purchase a subscription to watch the videos. Now my cameras are useless. If I had wanted that, I would have bought that with a different brand. I would have found something better, as this already isn’t that great of a camera. I thought the fact that it took a short video would be enough. But now it can’t even do that. Waste of money.

This is the first time I have been made to buy anything in my life.. a subscription shouldn’t be pushed onto folks living on budgets. It was free when I bought my cameras all the sudden with this update I’m being MADE TO BUY. I will NOT be made to buy something that was free when I bought THESE cameras. Guess it time to shop for new ones… don’t like being made to spend 7$ a month to watch my on yard on 200$ cameras with 60$ internet bill🥲🥲

I’ve had these cameras for many years now, and I never needed to get the cloud service because the little 10 sec snippet of videos was decent enough to let me see what was going on around my property while I was not at home…. But now I’m being prompted to pay for a service to even be able to see a live version for cameras that are there to supposedly there to protect our home..Just another money hungry company that should not require me to pay for a 10 second terrible quality video. I will be switching to another company.

**Updated 10/6/26** I was upset enough when they started showing ads in order to view the 20 seconds of video it captures but figured at least it’s a short ad. Starting today 10/6/26 I CANNOT EVEN VIEW THE 20 SECOND CLIPS UNLESS I OAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION?! You’ve got to be kidding me! Now all I get to see is a thumbnail unless I pay $7/month or $70/year per camera?! I was willing to overlook the short ads but at this point these cameras are useless and I’m replacing them asap and throwing them in the trash. **Original post** When I first got these they were decent, never great but for the price I wasn’t complaining. Recently the cameras have decided to stop recording between 10-11pm every night (no sleep schedule setup on my end) and then resume recording around 5am all on their own. There is NO sleep schedule or downtime listed or assigned in my app but the cameras just stop recording on their own even when a few weeks ago I was getting motion alerts at 2/3/4am due to living on a thoroughfare. Also I’ve stopped getting notifications sent to my phone at all, yet the app shows multiple notifications on the notification bubble on it, which again I haven’t muted or turned off active notifications. When my subscription expires in a month I’m throwing these out and opting for something else because the delayed or no notifications isn’t worth it, and neither is the extreme lag time when you do get a notification but can’t immediately go to alive view. Save yourself the headache and money and get something else.

I gave vicohome another chance but they made it unusable with paywalls. Smh bad app dont recommend. Dont buy.

I just love that the reviews show almost 5 stars when they are combined with another camera system for bird watching. The VicoHome Cameras are joke. Who runs ads with their Camera systems?!? I never had ads until I bought into the subscription. So deceitful!!!!!

Had this camera for 4 years, now I have to pay to watch videos this is crazy 👎👎👎👎

Forces ads just to view local files. This app triggers mandatory pop-up ads simply for checking local storage or files. Worse yet, the close button is intentionally delayed for several seconds, forcing you to watch. Intrusive ad practices like this ruin the entire app experience.

So you can record the movement but we have to now pay a subscription to view said video? This whole subscription lifestyle for EVERYTHING IS SO STUPID. I’ll find a different company that doesn’t use vico. Money hungry subscription companies can fall to the ground for all I care.

Bought these cameras and they were good latest update they want you to buy access to the video you only get a still frame of the video when the camera goes off , do not buy or download this app unless you want to pay for the camera and then pay them monthly to see it

Intermittent Issues since purchasing 9 months ago. No customer service phone number should be your first clue to shop elsewhere. Paid for annual subscription and definitely have not received 9 months of consistent service. Can’t reach anyone. Awful product and awful customer service!

Don’t like that I would have to watch 1000 (1 min) videos if I want to see if I want to see if something happened throughout the night. The app even shuts down after you watch too many videos. It was so annoying & took hours trying to find which video had someone breaking in cars because the thumbnail also didn’t show anything and you can’t fast forward the video. Choose a different camera, so you won’t have to deal with vicohome!

Had this camera for over a year. Now it just picks and chooses when it will let me see my video. Now it says I have to pay. It will play the sound. But the video is frozen. It was a great little camera. Not it’s gonna be in the garbage when I get home today.

we have had these cameras for over 3 years. in recent months, not only have they added ads as soon as you open the app to see what set the camera off - horrible timing, let’s hope there’s never something urgent since you have to wait x amount of time before you can close the ad!!! & this is now the second time within a year they have taken away the video option unless you want to pay a monthly subscription, which is baloney since i already purchased the cameras!!! they did this a few months ago and must’ve gotten so many complaints they gave the video option back. but here we are again, they took it away AGAIN. & the quality isn’t even worth a monthly subscription. not to mention how delayed they are!! SAVE YOUR MONEY, buy a different camera.

App is terrible. Tried scheduling sleep mode from 18:00 to6:00 M-F and it keeps resetting itself to sleep throughout the daytime. Also picks what days it wants even though I saved it to M-F. It reschedules itself. Useless.
