Store ratings include star-only taps from in-app prompts, which skew high. The peak and recent figures come only from people who wrote a review, which skews low. Compare each against itself: the drop is the signal, and a big gap between the two usually means heavy rating prompting is masking unhappy users.

They have supposedly been working on an agent for a very long time. Nobody is able to get off their waitlist for the beta. And they hardly release any new features. They are falling far behind and I am done waiting
So far I have issues with connecting to 3 well-known institutions- Bank of America, fidelity, and Merrill Lynch. Support is slow and asking fairly silly questions.
Accounts don’t link correctly and MFA locks you out of your account, overall awful experience
The name is misleading. It is just a tracking app. It does not help create a budget. It’s “AI” isn’t even smart enough to pull due dates for stuff like credit cards. They are betting on the fact that it is a super pain to set up and you would not want to do that again with a real ai app. Boo this app!
Constantly having to reconnect accounts and that process takes multiple attempts only to have accounts mislabeled or imported incorrectly. Takes less time to go back to my spreadsheet to track my finances. Was suppose to make things easier but fails.
Doesn’t reflect real details and leaves out certain coin holdings
No free trial period, forced subscription
Support in-app doesn’t actually respond anymore. Even the AI support chatbot no longer responds.
I have never seen transaction auto-categorization perform as terribly as this. Apps I used 15 years ago did it better. There is no excuse in the age of AI. There are tons of transactions erroneously labeled as internal transfers when they are simply income or a regular purchase. I’m all for AI learning from my habits, but it doesn’t seem to know the basics. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to rename payees so that future transactions from the same source are titled the same and have the same category. This is basic functionality that every budgeting app I’ve used has had for many years. This makes the app unusable. And to boot, it’s also not even as beautiful as it claims to be or aligned with Apple design standards. The macOS app has clunky UX and does not inspire confidence in using it. L
I’ve had copilot since 2021, and I’m finally canceling. Since then there have been no substantial new features, and I’m paying $96/year. In fact, the app has slowly gotten buggier over time. It’s impossible to justify spending this much money on an app that has nothing new to offer.
Looks pretty but utility is pretty low compared to other financial apps. Case in point - they show negatives in white with positive numbers! They need to better understand end user goals and how to enable them. Deprioritize prettiness for its own sake
Copilot looks decent, but it only imported about three months of transaction history and there doesn’t seem to be any option to import older transactions. For an app focused on spending trends, budgeting, and analytics, that’s a pretty major limitation. I want to be able to look back at a full year or more to understand my actual spending patterns. The UI is okay overall, but the top navigation doesn’t feel very intuitive or user friendly. It takes more effort than it should to get around and find what you need. Good concept, but historical data access and navigation need improvement.
Money grabbing app. Useless app.
I’ve had this app for 3 months and there’s only one thing I wanted it to do. I want to be able to categorize transactions automatically. This app is very very bad at that. At 3 months I still need to manually change each transaction. I canceled because it doesn’t do the most basic thing it’s supposed to do. Wave is not very good at this but 100X better than this app. I don’t understand how an app like like this is getting 5 stars ratings if the auto categorization is only 10% accurate. I wish there were a way to know if the app has improved but after I cancelled and informed the developers of the bugs that seemed to prevent all auto categorization the declined to offer me a second free trial so I can’t actually know if it works now unless I pay $30/m — as an app developer myself I’m also aware $30/m is very very expensive so maybe I’ll try to build this myself and use local LLMs and sell for a one time price.
I gave this App every chance, but Connections to Financial Institutions FAILED CONSTANTLY. I worked with Support… get a connection repaired, ONLY TO FAIL AGAIN WITHIN DAYS.
I used to love this app, but now it’s not working as it’s meant to be. I have submitted multiple tickets and they always give me the same answer as they’re working on fixing it but it’s been the same issues for the whole year. They had added a goal for spending so it doesn’t affect your current budget but that feature is a joke. Since I first added a goal to a transaction all of my budgets have been wrong. I can’t even tell how much I’m spending and how much is left accurately to spend for the rest of the month. I’m just waiting for my subscription to run out and go find another app. It’s disappointing since I have used this for many years and this year it’s the first time where they haven’t updated and fixed these big issues.
annoying and hard to allocate funds not spent
Some features are great but it’s stuck in a specific place. Doesn’t work well for a couple; doesn’t have much budgeting flexibility — do it their way or don’t bother. And once you sign up it’s hard to get it to go away. Not that they keep making you pay - you just get ghost messages about stuff forever.
They keep clearing my review so I’ll keep reviewing it. Used to be so smart with transactions now it makes the same errors over and over again. This app is aging. Why did rules used to work so well and now I have to fix the same transactions month after month after month. Used to be the cool new kid on the block but no functional new features for quarter after quarter. There are way better apps out there for features. Go look up Origin. AI in it! Actual new features every quarter! It’s like copilot just phoned it in to make money and stopped innovating. I’m gonna let my subscription expire and go to Origin next. I could list endless issues: Stock performance data is wrong literally every single day. It’s different every single time you open the app. Amazon requires DAILY verification to load in transactions, what a joke. This app is hardly worth paying for lol. Why did the basic rules stop working? I have to fix the same charges every month. It’s like this app degrades overtime
The app imports all transactions from my bank as credits, including transactions where I’m paying someone else such as my power bill. This has been the case for most of 2026. Discussing the issue via the in-app support feature lead to agreement that the issue is present and then nothing, several months ago. Obviously my transactions showing as credits makes it nigh impossible to budget.
If you want to be able to see income-expenses=balance, this app isn’t for you. If you want a flashy dashboard that just shows how much you spent and you don’t really care to do the math, you’ll love it. If you’re actually budgeting, this is worthless. Update: I stand by my comments, the cash flow section is for the past, I want to also be able to budget for the future. I need the math on the budget.
I gave this a try for a year after monarch. This app looks great, but it fails to update and sync even if forced. The desktop app on Mac is trash.
Buggy, inconsistent connections with your financial accounts that require constant troubleshooting and nannying. Defeats the point of the app.
Despite repeated conversations with customer support, Apple Card transactions just don’t work. They’ll appear after adding the account (the first or the nth time), but after some random period they stop updating. If you have an Apple Card, this effectively makes Copilot worthless for tracking expenses. I’ve waited through several updates for a fix that hasn’t arrived. Time to check out alternatives.
What would it take to build a viable competitor, what would it cost to run every month, and a prompt to get started. Generated from the reviews on file; one LLM call per brief. Set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for a real brief; the stub only fills in a template.
