EWA: Learn Languages

I canceled my subscription months ago, before my free trial ended, yet EWA continues to charge me every month. Every time I contact customer support, I receive the same generic response, with no resolution or refund. My latest charge was on October 5th, despite my previous cancellation requests. This feels like a scam. A company should not continue charging customers after they cancel. Extremely frustrating and unacceptable. Be very careful before signing up. I would not recommend this app to anyone.

The audio comprehension test is terrible

I pushed the APP support button but that just took me to the web version of EWA. The problem is I subscribed to the one year for $29.99 plan in January of this year. So now in October, I open the app and it wants me to login. Which I try but it will not recognize that I am an existing customer with an existing plan, it keeps trying to register me as a newbie. Very frustrating, being unable to access tech support. I finally figured out a work around but the lack of access to help/support is unacceptable. Best part of the app is it’s reading Spanish books. Boilerplate response here by customer service annoyed me so from 3 stars to 1. Able to cancel my subscription (yay Apple App Store)

Good luck cancelling this app if you decide to move on. I have emailed multiple times, 6 times to be exact, and have had no resolution. I went into the app days before being charged for the subscription, got a “sorry to part with you” screen, and assumed I had successfully cancelled my subscription. Apparently not, as I was charged $54.91 a couple days later. I’ve reached out to get help with cancelling this subscription, and asked for a refund as I thought I had cancelled, to be told that I need to do all these other steps to cancel. I’ve responded, saying I’m unable to cancel using the information provided, and they eventually just stopped responding. So I guess I’m stuck with filing a fraud claim with my bank. Just be cautious when agreeing to this subscription. Make sure you want to keep it forever.

They make it hard to cancel so you will give up and they keep charging you. Do not download this app. Save your money.

I downloaded this app and forgot to cancel my trial. I’ve tried to cancel my subscription for MONTHS now. You can’t even talk directly to a person to do so. You talk to this stupid chatbot that says it emails the parent company for you and then you never hear back. There is no phone number to call. I’m about to have to close my debit card just so it stops charging me. Also, you HAVE to pay to use the app. I wish I could rate 0 stars.

I liked this app when I first subscribed. I especially liked its collection of books translated into Spanish that I was using to improve my reading comprehension skills. All of a sudden a lot of the books do not appear to no longer be available. I reached out and civilly asked what happened and EWA contacted me and provided me a link to cancel my subscription. I was looking for a reasonable explanation. Perhaps it was a technical issue easily resolved. But based on the response, I have to infer that there is trouble in EWA land. Consider this if you are interested in paying for their premium subscription.

Мне в целом плевать на лиги и все эти награды, это просто выбешивает принимать их в моменте, когда пользуешься приложением, а тут они еще и блокируют дальнейшее использование.

It is the worst app to use to learn AI. I paid for their monthly subscription and I cannot even access to it and there is no contract information, no technical support. I don’t know how they created the app and even charged it to the users, such a scam!!

Complete rip-off. Maybe this could be a decent app for learning English, but they ask for way too much money. Almost every action requires another payment. You pay, start learning, and then they keep asking you to pay again just to continue, move to the next lesson, or use another feature. It feels like every button you press leads to another charge. Very disappointing and definitely not worth the money.

It used to be my favorite app, now it’s a total disappointment. Bring back the old UI!After the latest update, using this app has become absolutely unbearable. Why ruin something that worked perfectly fine?First of all, they introduced these ridiculous, annoying sounds for literally every single tap. It feels like I downloaded a game for toddlers, not a language learning service. It is incredibly distracting and irritating.Secondly, they completely broke the UI in the Wordcraft game. I have the screen zoom enabled in my phone settings, and everything used to display perfectly before—there was plenty of room for everything. Now, the hidden word blocks don’t even fit on the screen fully, so I have to constantly scroll down! Meanwhile, there is a ton of completely wasted space at the top of the screen featuring useless illustrations of some guy or a girl alongside unnecessary text. The most crucial information is cut off, while giant, useless pictures take up half the screen.I have absolutely no desire to even open the app anymore. This update has completely killed my motivation to study. Developers, please listen to your users and fix this nightmare!

Ahórrense su dinero. Está app es una verdadera mrd! No puedo creer que pague $50 solo pa que me den palabritas de yes, hello… todas las lecciones son lo mismo, por más que lo pongas es avanzado te dan las misma palabritas una y otra vez, no te enseñan a hablarlo como es. Para eso pagas tanto?? Para eso mejor veo youtube y gratis

Beware! This app will hold onto your payment information and not allow you to cancel. I'm reporting Them to the Better Business Bureau after three attempts to follow the pathway indicated. I also tried to cancel through my bank account and they stop payment on one payment interval, but the app hit my account the next time anyway. I'm going to have to cancel my credit card to get rid of this.

I paid for the app for a month, then decided to cancel. EWA continued billing me for months and wouldn’t allow me to cancel. I had my bank cancel it for me, and EW charged me 3 times in a day. Don’t download this app.

Be aware that this automatically renews without warning an it is very difficult to get a refund or to stop the subscription.

They will rob you blind. They make the subscription impossible to cancel. I have been getting charged for at least 4 months for an account I have closed and emailed them about. Both them and Paddle, the company that handles their billing, have refused to stop charging me. I’m going to have to freeze my credit card, which is my primary card, to get them to stop. DO NOT SIGN UP TO PAY THEM.

This app is a complete scam I don’t have the app on any of my devices and they took my information from my Apple wallet for a quarterly subscription. Do not make any purchases with this app they will make it so difficult to refund.

Poor customer service and unreasonable refund policy! Very disappointing experience! I requested a refund just one day past the automatic renewal, I sent them several emails, and they refused. Other companies usually have no problem with this, but EWA chose not to! Also their app feels ‘clunky’ and has ‘scripted’ exercises that remind me years ago when I was in 7th grade Spanish class and we learned rote phrases like”Donde esta la biblioteca?” BEWARE EWA.

I chose this app as an additional learning tool to supplement another language app. I found Ewa frustrating to use, the sound quality was poor and the speed of talking in the video clips made them difficult to understand plus the lack of variety in the practice material make lessons boring and difficult to learn (despite the relentless cheerful enthusiasm of the avatars). Canceling the subscription was another big headache. It turns out that it is very easy to cancel your account without canceling the subscription, so bills keep coming and it is difficult to get support (either from Ewa or from paddle.com, the billing agent) to resolve the situation. I had the feeling the support staff was more concerned with supplying a quick response to an email than actually helping resolve the issue at hand.

1) I’m an adult, so I don’t need a bunch of children’s cartoons and participation prizes, which seems to be the point of 90% of this app. 2) Each of the books I read were clearly entirely translated by a bad AI with no humans reviewing it for errors. 2) Also, there’s no punctuation in the books, other than periods, making it hard to follow a simple conversation when you can’t tell who’s talking! 3) Worse, when you click on the “translate” area to get help about who IS talking in a conversation, the AI translates everything to the masculine “he”, “his”, “him” etc even when it’s a woman. I’m done. Now looking for something better.

The product itself is fine. However, I have been trying to cancel my 3 reoccurring month membership for 2 billing cycles and am out over $60. I thought it was canceled 3 months ago, apparently it was not. I am not receiving any help from Paddle and Zendesk when I reach out to their customer service, I get a chat bot and emails that do nothing and go nowhere. I’m about to report it as fraud to my bank at this point.

These guys insistedly charge my card 3 months in a row despite my continuous e mails for cancellation the membership. They charged me enormously, stay away from this app.
